Over the past few weeks, since the world’s largest plane, the Antonov An-225 Mriya, was destroyed in the midst of the war in Ukraine.
What at first was just a misfortune, in which the plane was supposed to be undergoing maintenance and, thus, unable to be taken out of the country, became the revelation of a management crisis at the Antonov company.
This is because the main pilot of the An-225, Commander Dmytro Antonov (his surname is just a coincidence, he is not the owner of the company), who is also an instructor and head of the crews of the other planes, denounced that there were names, in the upper echelon of the company, committed to making it easier for the planes to be destroyed and for the Russians to invade the Gostomel airport, Antonov’s base and strategic location, near the capital Kiev, for the air arrival of Russian troops.
After his denunciations, made through videos on the YouTube channel that bears his own name, Dmytro received a document informing his removal from the position of pilot for Antonov.
At first, the measure could either indicate that the commander spoke the truth and touched on a critical point in the situation, or indicate that he was just making empty accusations against the company itself, which would justify his removal. However, he stated that he was even threatened, which seemed to indicate that the first option was the most likely.
A few days later, however, on March 29, Ukroboronprom, a conglomerate of Ukrainian defense industry companies, of which Antonov State Enterprise is a part, reported that the top boss of the aeronautical company was being removed from his post and placed under investigation .
A new general director was put in charge, and this week, Dmytro was called by the new leader to talk and pass on his impressions about what should be done so that Antonov and, who knows, the An-225 are recovered after the recent events. .
And more than that, in his video from last Wednesday, April 6, the commander comments that he discovered that not only had he been removed from the post, but that he had also been fired from the company at the end of March.
“Yesterday [when he spoke with the new director] I learned that an order had been signed to reinstate me in my position. But, reading the order carefully, I noticed that on March 25, 2022 they also managed to fire me from my job.”
Given the fact, Dmytro still takes the opportunity to play with the situation:
“As of April 4, 2022, I was reinstated to work and reinstated to my position. So it turns out that today is my second day on the job. Therefore, I will get acquainted with the company, I will learn to fly. And most importantly, I will get acquainted with the flight crew. I hope the team is very good!”
